the clients wanted a copy of david chipperfields own maisonette, a few doors down on the same square. this was a lesson in duplication and interpretation. it was also an opportunity for me to explore natural materials and to learn about david chipperfields design concerns, which made richard meier buildings seem positively baroque and ostentatious in comparisom.
